The Black Country is an area to the north-west of Birmingham.

Its principal centres of population are the Metropolitan Boroughs of Dudley (population 306,500), Sandwell (282,901) and Walsall (255,400) and the City of Wolverhampton (251,462).

The area benefits from its close proximity to Birmingham and there are excellent motorway connections to the east, where a major intersection of the M5 and M6 affords routes to the West Country, the North and London.

A campaign is underway to turn The Black Country into an Urban Park.
