The two largest towns in Bedfordshire are Luton (population 203,800) and Bedford (79,190).
The county is well served for roads: the M1 motorway has three junctions near Luton, including one that serves Bedford and another serving Milton Keynes. The A1 London to Edinburgh road passes close to Sandy and Biggleswade; the A5 London to Holyhead road passes through Dunstable.
London Luton Airport offers good connections to UK, Europe, North America and North African destinations.
Three main railway lines pass through the county, with good connections to London, the Midlands and the north.
